Facts matter. The truth matters.
Earlier this week, one of my opponents resorted to spreading lies about my record. After we caught wind of Susannah Randolph’s deceptive attack, I called her out and asked her to retract her statement. “Who knows,” I thought to myself, “she may have just made an honest mistake.”
But instead of correcting the record, Randolph chose to double-down on this falsehood. As Democrats, we pride ourselves in being the party that tells the truth, relies on facts, and makes arguments based on reality. We’re better than this – and Randolph should be ashamed.
As Senator, I worked closely with survivors of sexual assault to ensure their attackers could be held accountable for their crimes – and together, we succeeded in doubling the statute of limitations for sexual assault in Florida. Meanwhile, Randolph is misrepresenting the facts on sexual assault legislation for political gain, which is simply appalling.
